My Grandparents had a farm when I was a child and my memory goes back to those sunny funfilled summer days, always in the company of animals. As I grew up, having spent so much time in the company of animals, I begun
to understand the value and companionship of all animals, but in particular of dogs as they naturally seek to bond with people.
I had to wait till after I finished University before I had enough time to have a dog of my own, and was the proud owner of first one rescue Golden Retriever, then another, Henry, with whom I spent 15 wonderful years. In that time, Henry became more than just my friend, he was my constant companion. We both enjoyed the Great Outdoors and most of our time together was spent roaming the New Forest on horseback.
When the unthinkable happened and he finally had to be put to sleep after almost 15 years together, I was inconsolable. My World fell apart and I couldn't even think
about getting another dog as Henry was irreplaceable, he was not just a dog, but my best friend. But after nearly half a year after Henry's passing, my friends persuaded me
that somewhere out there was a little dog that would love to have the chance to roam the Forest with me.
As I have only ever had cats and dogs from rescue places, fate pointed me in the direction of a lovely little dog in a an animal shelter in Greece, having exhausted the local UK rescue places. This little dog, Bianca, appeared to be a cross between a Dalmatian, a Pointer and a Labrador, very
athletically built to keep up with the horses. She had been left behind at only 7 months old when her Greek owners left the Greek island where she was born. She spent the next 9 months in a shelter and apparently literally bounced off the kennel walls with stress. Well, she is now here in the UK with us in the New Forest and absolutely loves running, she runs like the wind and is so happy and content now, she is a joy to watch.
I always had Henry registered with Pets Bureau and now Bianca too. My pets are an important part of my family and I could not bear for them to get lost. Of course all my animals are microchipped and wear IDs, but if you lose your dog whilst out for a walk, Pets Bureau are a wonderful way of ensuring that the finder can get hold of you. As it was, I have had to use the services of Pets Bureau more then once over Henry's lifetime. One never thinks that one's dog might disappear during a walk, but it can happen. Pets Bureau give me that extra peace of mind.
Thank you for a brilliant service and as an aside, also a personal Thank You to Sue Hipperson, Director of Pets Bureau, who was extremely sympathetic over my dreadful loss of Henry. It was a great comfort to know just how much Sue and her team actually care for their members and their animals.
